So if you're anything like me and manage to kill almost every single plant that has entered your home, you might have spent a lot of money trying to make your living space a greener place. (I promise, it's not all me! My apartment just doesn't get much sunlight at all. Though remembering to water the plants once or twice a day might prove a little too much work heh)
But I refuse to succumb to the notion that I can't keep a simple plant alive. Or can I not??
I suffer from *mild* anxiety and house plants add to that burgeoning list of things I worry about on a daily basis. (If I actually manage to get all the way down to it). Thoughts that run through my mind goes like "Have I watered the plants? Am I watering it too often? Or not enough? Are they happy? Do they have enough sunlight? Oh no why does it look droopy? WHY ARE THE LEAVES TURNING BROWN?"
This year, I sought to prove to myself that I can keep a plant alive at home. Bringing home 2 indoor plants, I showered it with much attention and care. They looked fine for a month, until they started to turn brown and wither. Apparently one was over-watered and the other one, too little. (How did I even manage to do that??)
My dad tried to resuscitate it but safe to say, it was too late. Hope they managed to get to plant heaven.
Here's a picture of how they looked like at the store. No "after" pictures - Not a trace of evidence of their tragic demise was kept.
Feeling like an utter failure, I took to Instagram to share this unfortunate situation and found solace in the fact that I am not alone in this. Many friends have confessed that they too have not been able to keep their house plants alive and decided to just get fake plants, if any at all.
Well... things started to turn around when I brought home a Plantui. Crossed my fingers and prayed hard that I wouldn't be terrible enough that I managed to kill plants in Plantui when basically I don't need to do anything except for topping up the water and nutrients once a week. Sounds easy enough.
I'm happy to report that it has been many months since and my plants are still surviving pretty happily. Even got my an entire Ziploc worth of basil on one of the harvests.
- Uses the same irrigation method as professional greenhouses: it quietly pumps water to the roots 1-7 times a day, depending on the growth stage. The Plantui smart watering system ensures that plants get just the right amount of water, nutrients and oxygen. (YAY TO NO OVERTHINKING!)
- Has high-end LED lights that provide the best spectrums and intensity needed for photosynthesis. The lights are automatically controlled by the computer inside the light unit. With just the right amount and quality of light for their optimal growth, you get healthy, fresh and extremely tasty greens. (YAY TO NO NEED FOR SUNLIGHT!)
My dad claims it is a miracle that my plants in Plantui has survived. What he doesn't know is that it is nothing to my credit. But he can continue thinking that I kept them alive :)
Well, hopefully he doesn't see this blogpost, or the secret will be out of the bag!
